Q&A

What first drew you to hunting, and how did you get started?
I’ve always liked being outside and I went hunting with my grandpa when I was a teen. After going I was hooked. I went as often as I could by myself and taught myself a lot which has lead me to where I am now.
I’m getting used to leaving my spotter, binos, a pair of boots, and my pack in the truck so I can leave at a moments notice. The most I do prep is make sure weapons are shooting where the need to, packing up food and beverage, clothing and then extra gear and heading out! I also prepare my body by staying active in sports, and working out.
It’s hard to stay patient sometimes. The best thing I can do is realize that win or lose to enjoy the moment. That helps me stay patient.
They each have their own challenges. Antelope are hard to get close too and require a tremendous amount of patience when hunting the buck that is scouted. Mule Deer have a great sense of their surroundings so it can be frustrating blowing stalks on them. Over all though elk would have to be most challenging. It is a financial commitment, Mental commitment, Time commitment, and most important a physical commitment.
Gushers for sure!
“The Office” hands down.
Slow down to make the moment count. Take the harder path. When you are in a choice scenario of going up a hill to avoid being winded, or to run down hill to get their quicker, ALWAYS with every scenario pick the hardest physical and mental path. Success is higher!
My wife’s 80” Antelope. Absolve felt every feeling of a hunt on that one. Lowest of lows, and highest of highs. The hunt that I feel was a turning point for both Grace and I.
Defiant. I feel defiant against the world. I have always felt like someone that goes against what the world says to do. I don’t drink, party, fool around, listen to the media. I instead find enjoyment with Gods creation.
Mexico Mule deer hunt right now!
